Why should you hire a doula?In a 2007 review of 16 recent studies involving more than
13,000 women from 11 countries, researchers found that
women who received continuous labor support:
• Were more likely to give birth without caesarean, vacuum, or forceps
• Were less likely to use pain medications
• Were more likely to be satisfied with the birth experience
• Had slightly shorter labors

Other studies have shown:
• Enhanced mother-infant bonding
• More successful breastfeeding
• Decreased postpartum depression
• Higher overall satisfaction with birth,
infant, and partner after baby is born
